The Democratic Party has not scheduled debates for the 2024 presidential election.

On May 15, 2024, President Biden’s campaign chair, Jennifer O’Malley Dillon, indicated that Biden would not participate in the debates scheduled by the Commission on Presidential Debates, instead suggesting at least two independent debates before early voting begins in Sep. 2024, with only Biden and Trump on the stage. The Republican party stated in Apr. 2022, that the party would quit the commission altogether.

After the Biden campaign suggested two earlier independent debates, Trump agreed via Truth Social, and CNN and ABC won the race to air and moderate the following debates:

June 27, 2024, Atlanta, Georgia

  • Broadcast partner: CNN
  • Only Biden and Trump will debate; third part candidates are excluded

Sep. 10, 2024, location TBD

  • Broadcast partner: ABC
  • Only Biden and Trump will debate; third part candidates are excluded

The Commission on Presidential Debates has scheduled a vice-presidential debate for Sept. 25, at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, though whether the debate will go forward as planned is yet to be seen.
